We are interested in examining the effects of childhood disciplinary strategies on your overall well-being and relationships. As part of your participation in this study you may find some therapeutic value in considering certain aspects of your life. Your participation will not subject you to any physical pain or risk, but because some of the interview questions seek to solicit some personal information, no identifying information such as your name will be asked.
Initially, you will be asked to complete a preliminary screening survey that asks a series of questions to determine your eligibility for participating in this study. If you meet criteria, you will be prompted to a series of surveys regarding the parenting strategies you experienced as a child by your primary caregivers. Certain surveys may repeat to determine your relationship with multiple caregivers as well as your romantic partner, if it applies. These surveys will take approximately 45 minutes to an hour to complete. There will be some questions regarding relationship conflict. If for any reason you are uncomfortable completing the survey, you are free to stop at any time. If you have any concerns please feel free to contact the researchers, Felipa Chavez, Ph.D., Briana Haut,and Angel Manzano. We assure you that any reports about this research will contain only data of an anonymous or statistical nature.
Upon completion of the survey, you may elect to enter a raffle for one of 3 Amazon gift-cards. If you choose to participate in the raffle, you will need to send your e-mail address as directed at the end of the survey. You will receive a codeword upon completion of your survey. Please include this codeword when you email your entrance into the raffle for the gift-cards. Your e-mail address will in no way be linked to your responses to the survey questions.
